Doxorubicin Hydrochloride and Estradiol and progesterone
Determining the interaction of Doxorubicin Hydrochloride and Estradiol and progesterone and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:The following interaction applies only if you are receiving progesterone intravenously: High dosages of intravenous progesterone have been reported to increase the effects of DOXOrubicin on bone marrow function, which can lead to low numbers of different types of blood cells. You may be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. Consult with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: The concomitant use of doxorubicin with high doses of intravenous progesterone (up to 10 g/day) may increase the risk and/or severity of doxorubicin-associated hematologic toxicity. The mechanism is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: It is advisable to monitor patients for neutropenia and thrombocytopenia during coadministration.
