Using calcium acetate together with strontium-89 chloride can alter the effects of strontium-89 chloride. Certain medications may effect the results of strontium-89 chloride. Calcium acetate should be withheld for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after administration of strontium-89 chloride. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Saturation of bone-binding sites by calcium may reduce uptake of strontium-89 chloride.

MANAGEMENT: Calcium-containing preparations should be withheld for 2 weeks before until 2 weeks after administration of strontium-89 chloride.
