Consumer:Using zidovudine together with indomethacin may increase the risk of bleeding in HIV-positive patients with hemophilia. However, the interaction is not fully understood, and evidence is limited. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Limited clinical data suggest that the concomitant use of zidovudine with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents may increase the risk of hematological toxicity and/or bleeding in HIV-positive patients with hemophilia. The mechanism is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: It is recommended to monitor patients for side effects and bleeding during concomitant use.
