Adalat CC and Theophylline Elixir
Determining the interaction of Adalat CC and Theophylline Elixir and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Limited and controversial data suggest the following: either there is no significant interaction between theophylline and dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers, or theophylline serum levels increase after the addition of dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers. Data are available for nifedipine. Theophylline dosage should be reduced if necessary, and plasma levels should be checked when clinically necessary and appropriate. Patients should be advised to report any signs of theophylline toxicity including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, restlessness, insomnia, or irregular heartbeat to their physician.
