Consumer:Flibanserin may increase the blood levels and effects of sAXagliptin. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Coadministration with flibanserin may increase the plasma concentrations of drugs that are substrates of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) efflux transporter. In 24 healthy male and female study subjects, administration of a single 0.5 mg dose of digoxin, a P-gp probe substrate, following pretreatment with flibanserin 100 mg once daily for 5 days increased digoxin peak concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) by 1.5- and 2.0-fold, respectively, compared to administration of digoxin alone.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised when flibanserin is prescribed with drugs that are P-gp substrates, particularly those with a narrow therapeutic range. Dosage adjustments as well as clinical and laboratory monitoring may be appropriate for some drugs whenever flibanserin is added to or withdrawn from therapy.
