Consumer:Using DOXOrubicin together with stavudine may decrease the effects of stavudine. Contact your doctor if your condition changes. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. Professional:MONITOR: Doxorubicin has been shown to inhibit the phosphorylation of stavudine to its active triphosphate form in vitro. The clinical significance is unknown. However, the potential for diminished antiretroviral activity of stavudine should be considered.
MANAGEMENT: Monitoring for altered antiretroviral efficacy and HIV-RNA levels is advisable during concomitant administration.
