Professional:GENERALLY AVOID: The combined use of procarbazine and alcohol may result in a disulfiram-like reaction (flushing, nausea, headache, hypotension). Increased sedation may also occur. The mechanism may be due to inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by procarbazine.
MANAGEMENT: The clinician should counsel patients receiving procarbazine to avoid the consumption of alcohol.
