Secobarbital may reduce the blood levels of copanlisib, which may make the medication less effective in some cases. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: Coadministration with inducers of CYP450 3A4 and/or P-glycoprotein (P-gp) may decrease the plasma concentrations of copanlisib, which is a substrate of both the isoenzyme and efflux transporter. When a single 60 mg intravenous dose of copanlisib was administered to cancer patients in combination with the potent CYP450 3A4 and P-gp inducer, rifampin (600 mg once daily for 12 days), mean copanlisib peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) decreased by 15% and 63%, respectively. Reduced efficacy of copanlisib may occur. The interaction has not been studied with other, less potent inducers.

MANAGEMENT: The potential for diminished pharmacologic effects of copanlisib should be considered during coadministration with CYP450 3A4 and/or P-gp inducers. Alternative treatments may be required if an interaction is suspected.
