Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Aminosalicylic acid in an immediate release preparation has been reported to produce a reduction in the acetylation of isoniazid (INH), especially in fast acetylators. Studies have not been conducted with the delayed-release formulation of aminosalicylic acid. Due to lower serum levels with the delayed-release formulation of aminosalicylic acid, it is expected that a reduced effect on acetylation of INH will occur. Toxicity has not been reported.
