Amiodarone Tablets and Cytoxan Lyophilized
Determining the interaction of Amiodarone Tablets and Cytoxan Lyophilized and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using amiodarone together with cyclophosphamide may increase your risk of developing lung toxicity. Contact your doctor if you experience cough, shortness of breath, or any new respiratory symptoms. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: One case report suggests that coadministration of amiodarone and cyclophosphamide may result in increased risk of pulmonary toxicity. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown, although both agents can individually cause pulmonary toxicity such as pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial pneumonitis and may have additive effects on the lungs during coadministration. In the case report, a patient who had been on amiodarone therapy developed biopsy-proven pulmonary toxicity a little over two weeks after receiving a single, high dose of cyclophosphamide (4000 mg/m2). The time frame was much shorter than would have been predicted with cyclophosphamide alone, suggesting an accelerated pathogenic process. The patient had previously tolerated lower doses of cyclophosphamide while receiving treatment with amiodarone.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised during coadministration of amiodarone and cyclophosphamide, particularly at high dosages. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience cough, dyspnea, or any new respiratory symptoms.
