Amyl nitrite Inhalation, oral/nebulization and Dihydroergotamine Mesylate
Determining the interaction of Amyl nitrite Inhalation, oral/nebulization and Dihydroergotamine Mesylate and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Ask your doctor before using amyl nitrite together with dihydroergotamine. Using amyl nitrite together with dihydroergotamine can increase the effects of dihydroergotamine. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience an irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, weakness, or coldness, numbness, or pain in the hands, feet, arms, or legs. You may need a dose adjustment or special test if you use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:GENERALLY AVOID: Ergot alkaloids, by causing vasoconstriction, may theoretically antagonize the effects of nitrates. In addition, nitrates may increase splanchnic blood flow, resulting in decreased first-pass metabolism of dihydroergotamine and increased bioavailability.
MANAGEMENT: This combination should generally be avoided. Ergot alkaloids are considered contraindicated in patients with ischemic heart disease.
