A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.

Consumer:

Asparaginase Escherichia coli may increase the blood levels and effects of vinCRIStine. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. You should seek medical attention if you experience increased side effects of vinCRIStine such as constipation, abdominal pain or bloating, difficulty urinating, numbness or tingling in hands and feet, muscle weakness, difficulty walking, hearing loss, seizures, unusual or excessive bleeding, easy bruising, paleness, fatigue, fainting, infection, fever, chills, sore throat, or other flu-like symptoms. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Asparaginase may inhibit the hepatic clearance of vincristine and potentiate its neurotoxicity. The exact mechanism of this interaction is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: To minimize toxicity, it is recommended that vincristine be administered 12 to 24 hours before asparaginase. Patients should be monitored closely for symptoms of neuropathy such as burning, tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands and feet. Consideration should be given to dosage reductions or immediate discontinuation of these medications in patients who develop peripheral neuropathy to limit further damage. If necessary, therapy should generally be reinstituted only after resolution of neuropathy symptoms or return of symptoms to baseline status. In some cases, reduced dosages may be required.
