Consumer:

C1 esterase inhibitor, human and urokinase may form a complex with each other in the blood, resulting in the deactivation of both medications. Ideally, these medications should not be used together. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: C1 esterase inhibitors inhibit proteases in the coagulation/fibrinolytic system and may inhibit tissue plasminogen activators (tPAs). Complexation of C1 esterase inhibitor and tPA has been observed in scientific studies. However, the interaction has not been studied during clinical use of these agents concomitantly.

MANAGEMENT: Simultaneous administration of a C1 esterase inhibitor and a tPA should preferably be avoided.
