Biltricide and Cimetidine
Determining the interaction of Biltricide and Cimetidine and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Data from a single case report suggest that cimetidine may inhibit the hepatic metabolism of praziquantel. During concomitant therapy, the elimination half-life of praziquantel increased from 1.7 hours to 3.3 hours and the area under the praziquantel plasma concentration-time curve increased fourfold. The authors of the report used this interaction in an attempt to increase the efficacy of praziquantel.
