Determining the interaction of Bivalirudin Intravenous and Topcare Ibuprofen Junior Strength Chewable and the possibility of their joint administration.

A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using ibuprofen together with bivalirudin can cause you to bleed more easily. Call your doctor promptly if you have any unusual bleeding or bruising, vomiting, blood in your urine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: The safety and efficacy of bivalirudin have not been established when used in conjunction with platelet inhibitors other than aspirin. Theoretically, the concomitant administration of bivalirudin (plus aspirin) and platelet inhibitors may increase the risk of bleeding complications due to additive or synergistic effects on the clotting cascade. However, limited data from drug interaction studies do not suggest pharmacodynamic interactions with the platelet inhibitors, ticlopidine and abciximab.
MANAGEMENT: Until further data are available, the coadministration of bivalirudin and antiplatelet agents, and possibly other agents with antiplatelet activity such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), should probably be undertaken with caution. Close clinical and laboratory observation for bleeding complications is recommended.
