Black Cohosh and Doxorubicin
Determining the interaction of Black Cohosh and Doxorubicin and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Preliminary data from an animal model suggest that black cohosh may enhance the cytotoxic effects of docetaxel and doxorubicin on breast cancer cells. Mouse mammary tumor cells exposed to a high concentration of black cohosh (100 times the recommended dose) were found to be more sensitive to docetaxel or doxorubicin than were cells treated with each of the agents alone or the agent plus vehicle. The clinical significance in humans is unknown.
