Brilinta and Cafergot (Ergotamine and Caffeine Tablets)
Determining the interaction of Brilinta and Cafergot (Ergotamine and Caffeine Tablets) and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Talk to your doctor before using ticagrelor together with ergotamine. Combining these medications may increase the blood levels and effects of ergotamine. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects during treatment. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with ticagrelor may increase the plasma concentrations of drugs that are primarily metabolized by the CYP450 3A4 isoenzyme. The mechanism is reduced clearance due to inhibition of CYP450 3A4 by ticagrelor, which is a mild inhibitor. The interaction may be significant for sensitive CYP450 3A4 substrates or those that demonstrate a narrow therapeutic index.
MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of ticagrelor with sensitive CYP450 3A4 substrates or those that demonstrate a narrow therapeutic index (e.g., cisapride, ergot alkaloids, colchicine, fentanyl, macrolide immunosuppressants, midazolam, pimozide, triazolam, vinca alkaloids) is not recommended.
