Brimonidine and Fusilev

Brimonidine ophthalmic (for the eyes) is used to reduce pressure inside the eyes in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The Alphagan P brand of brimonidine ophthalmic is available only with a prescription.

The Lumify brand of brimonidine ophthalmic is available without a prescription, and is used to relieve eye redness and irritation.

Alphagan P is for use in adults and children as young as 2 years old. Lumify is for use in adults and children who are at least 5 years old.

Fusilev is used to treat or prevent toxic effects of methotrexate in people who have received methotrexate to treat bone cancer.

Fusilev is also used to treat or prevent toxic effects of methotrexate in people whose bodies do not eliminate methotrexate properly after the drug is metabolized. This medicine may also be used to treat toxic effects of an overdose or methotrexate or certain other medications.

Fusilev is also used in combination chemotherapy with fluorouracil to treat colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. This medicine treats only the symptoms of colorectal cancer but does not treat the cancer itself.

Fusilev should not be used to treat anemia that is caused by a lack of vitamin B12.
