A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.

Consumer:

Ask your doctor before using bromocriptine together with isometheptene mucate. Using these medications together may increase the adverse effects of bromocriptine. This may cause low blood pressure, which can lead to dizziness and other symptoms, especially when you rise from a sitting or lying position. Also use caution when driving or performing other hazardous activities. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: Several case reports suggest that some sympathomimetics, including phenylpropanolamine and isometheptene, may worsen the side effects of bromocriptine. The mechanism is unknown, but may be due to additive pharmacodynamic effects. Hypertension, ventricular tachycardia, headaches, and seizures have been reported when phenylpropanolamine or isometheptene has been used in combination with bromocriptine.

MANAGEMENT: Until more information is available, the concurrent use of these agents should be avoided.
