Consumer:Talk to your doctor before using mexiletine together with nebivolol. Both of these medications can slow your heart rate, and combining them may increase the effects. Excessive slowing of your heart rate can lead to serious or life-threatening cardiac complications including heart block and heart failure. Contact your doctor if you develop dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: The concomitant use of mexiletine with beta blockers may increase negative inotropic effects and potentiate effects on atrioventricular conduction time.
MANAGEMENT: Caution and monitoring for cardiac arrhythmias, bradycardia, and heart failure are recommended during concurrent therapy.
