HAE is a rare disease that causes swelling of the face, hands, feet, throat, stomach, bowels, or sexual organs. People who have HAE have low levels of C1 esterase inhibitor in their body, and c1 esterase inhibitor recombinant increases the amount of C1 esterase inhibitor in the body.

Raltegravir is used together with other medicines for the treatment of the infection caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Raltegravir will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS. It helps keep HIV from reproducing and appears to slow down the destruction of the immune system.
