Consumer:Using calcium citrate together with strontium-89 chloride can alter the effects of strontium-89 chloride. Certain medications may effect the results of strontium-89 chloride. Calcium citrate should be withheld for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after administration of strontium-89 chloride. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Saturation of bone-binding sites by calcium may reduce uptake of strontium-89 chloride.
MANAGEMENT: Calcium-containing preparations should be withheld for 2 weeks before until 2 weeks after administration of strontium-89 chloride.
