Caldolor and Pioglitazone Hydrochloride

Caldolor injection (ibuprofen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ibuprofen works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Caldolor injection is used to reduce fever and treat pain.

Caldolor may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Neoprofen, another brand of ibuprofen injection, is used in premature babies to treat a condition called patent ductus arteriosus (an abnormal blood vessel opening that normally closes shortly after birth).

Used alone or in combination with a sulfonylurea, metformin, or insulin as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 (noninsulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). Should be added to, not substituted for, other antidiabetic agents in patients whose NIDDM is not adequately controlled by these agents.

May be added to glyburide/metformin fixed combination therapy if hyperglycemia is not adequately controlled with the fixed combination. May be used in combination with repaglinide if hyperglycemia is not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, and monotherapy with another oral antidiabetic agent.

Not effective as sole therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
