Camptosar and Eloxatin

In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. Using oxaliplatin together with irinotecan has been reported to occasionally increase side effects such as runny nose, watery eyes, blurry vision, excessive salivation, sweating, flushing, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: Several case reports have suggested that coadministration of oxaliplatin may increase the incidence and/or severity of irinotecan-induced cholinergic syndrome. The mechanism is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: Patients should be monitored for cholinergic symptoms (e.g., rhinitis, miosis, lacrimation, hypersalivation, diaphoresis, flushing, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea). Subcutaneous atropine has been used to prevent and treat symptoms.
