Canagliflozin and Digoxin Intravenous

Using digoxin together with canagliflozin may increase the effects of digoxin. Contact your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, confusion, seizures, hallucinations, light "halos" around objects, green or yellow vision, fatigue, irregular heartbeats, and abnormally fast or slow heartbeats. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: The coadministration of canaglifozin and digoxin may increase the AUC (20%) and mean peak drug concentration (Cmax) (36%) of digoxin.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised during concomitant therapy. Serum digoxin levels should be checked frequently and the dosage adjusted accordingly, particularly following initiation or discontinuation of canaglifozin. Patients should be advised to notify their doctor if they experience signs of digoxin toxicity such as nausea, anorexia, visual disturbances, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats.
