Carafate (Sucralfate Oral Suspension) and Quinidine Gluconate
Determining the interaction of Carafate (Sucralfate Oral Suspension) and Quinidine Gluconate and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Limited clinical data suggest that sucralfate may decrease the gastrointestinal absorption of quinidine. Serum quinidine levels and quinidine effect may be decreased. The mechanism is not known. Close observation for clinical and laboratory evidence of altered quinidine effect is recommended if these drugs must be used together. Patients should be advised to take quinidine at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after sucralfate to minimize a potential interaction.
