Carafate (sucralfate) is an anti-ulcer medication.

Carafate is not greatly absorbed into the body through the digestive tract. It works mainly in the lining of the stomach by sticking to ulcer sites and protecting them from acids, enzymes, and bile salts.

Carafate is used to treat an active duodenal ulcer. Sucralfate can heal an active ulcer, but it will not prevent future ulcers from occurring.

Has been used in the treatment of major depressive disorder and is approved for treating depression in some countries; this indication is not an FDA-labeled use.

Insufficient data, to date, to determine if efficacy and tolerability of milnacipran as an antidepressant are superior, inferior, or equal to that of other antidepressants for acute treatment of major depressive disorder. Some studies indicate improved tolerability with milnacipran when compared with tricyclic antidepressants.
