Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Limited data from two patients suggest that the antihypertensive effects of guanethidine are enhanced by the addition of levodopa. The mechanism is unknown. Because of the paucity of data, it is not clear if an interaction exists. If guanethidine and levodopa are used concomitantly, monitoring of blood pressure is recommended, especially orthostatic measurements. Also, the clinician should be aware that if levodopa is discontinued, the antihypertensive effects of guanethidine could be decreased.
