Consumer:

QuiNIDine may increase the blood levels and effects of ticagrelor. An increased risk of bleeding complications may occur in some patients. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Call your doctor promptly if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, swelling, vomiting, blood in your urine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Coadministration with potent P-glycoprotein inhibitors may theoretically increase the plasma concentrations of ticagrelor, which is a substrate of the efflux transporter. However, the interaction has not been studied.

MANAGEMENT: Until more data are available, caution is recommended if ticagrelor must be used with potent P-glycoprotein inhibitors. It may be advisable to monitor pharmacologic response to ticagrelor more closely following the addition and withdrawal of these agents. Discontinuation of the concomitant medication may be required if an interaction is suspected.
