MONITOR: Case reports suggest that chlorpromazine may potentiate the antihypertensive effects of clonidine. The mechanism is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: Close monitoring for excessive blood pressure reduction is recommended if these drugs are coadministered. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience syncope, orthostasis, or dizziness.
