Cefditoren and Omeprazole and Sodium Bicarbonate Capsules
Determining the interaction of Cefditoren and Omeprazole and Sodium Bicarbonate Capsules and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using cefditoren together with omeprazole is not recommended. By reducing stomach acid, omeprazole can decrease the absorption and blood levels of cefditoren and make the medication less effective against infections. Your doctor or pharmacist may be able to offer suggestions on safer alternatives if you require treatment for stomach acid or ulcer while you are being treated with cefditoren. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with H2-receptor antagonists or other agents that reduce stomach acid (e.g., proton pump inhibitors) may decrease the oral absorption and plasma concentrations of cefditoren pivoxil. According to the manufacturer, a single intravenous dose of famotidine (20 mg) reduced the mean peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) of a single dose of cefditoren pivoxil (400 mg, administered following a meal) by 27% and 22%, respectively. The clinical significance of these alterations is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: The manufacturer recommends that cefditoren pivoxil not be administered concomitantly with H2-receptor antagonists or other agents that reduce stomach acid.
