Using fluconazole together with celecoxib can increase the effects of celecoxib. This can cause abdominal pain, tarry stools, nausea, vomiting, lethargy or drowsiness. ADJUST DOSE: Administration of celecoxib with fluconazole 200 mg daily resulted in a twofold increase in celecoxib plasma concentration. This is due to the inhibition of celecoxib metabolism via CYP450 2C9 by fluconazole.

MANAGEMENT: The manufacturer recommends initiating celecoxib therapy with the lowest recommended dose.
