Chloramphenicol Injection and Cyclophosphamide Tablets
Determining the interaction of Chloramphenicol Injection and Cyclophosphamide Tablets and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Chloramphenicol may inhibit the hepatic metabolism of cyclophosphamide. Since cyclophosphamide requires hepatic metabolism to be active (it is a prodrug with active metabolites), activation may be delayed or decreased and half-life may be increased. The effectiveness of cyclophosphamide could be decreased, although the clinical significance of the interaction is unclear. Monitoring of cyclophosphamide effectiveness during coadministration is recommended.
