Chloroquine and Metoprolol Succinate ER Tablets
Determining the interaction of Chloroquine and Metoprolol Succinate ER Tablets and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:In vitro and animal studies have suggested that chloroquine may increase serum levels of some oral beta-blockers. The possible mechanism is inhibition of CYP450 2D6 hepatic metabolism. It is recommended that the patient be monitored for beta-blocker toxicity during coadministration and for beta-blocker efficacy when chloroquine is discontinued. Renally excreted beta-blockers such as atenolol, carteolol, nadolol, or sotalol are not expected to interact.
