Using rifAMPin together with cloZAPine may decrease the effects of cloZAPine. Contact your doctor if your condition changes. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Rifabutin or rifampin may decrease clozapine serum concentrations by increasing the hepatic CYP450 metabolism of clozapine.

MANAGEMENT: If rifabutin or rifampin are added to or deleted from the drug therapy of a patient receiving clozapine, then clozapine serum levels and the patient's clinical response should be noted. If needed, clozapine levels may be adjusted or a different antibiotic may be selected.
