Cyanocobalamin injection is used to treat or prevent vitamin B12 deficiency caused by the following conditions:

• Addisonian (pernicious) anemia
• Stomach or bowel problems
• Worm infestation
• Pancreas or bowel cancer
• Folic acid deficiency.

Cyanocobalamin is to be given only by or under the direct supervision of your doctor.

• It is used to treat HIV infection.
• It is used to keep the HIV infection from passing from the mother to the newborn during delivery. The newborn will also be given Retrovir (zidovudine syrup) after birth.
