Consumer:

Using cycloSPORINE together with metoclopramide may increase the effects of cycloSPORINE. Contact your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, or headache. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Concomitant administration of single-dose cyclosporine and metoclopramide increases cyclosporine bioavailability. Although the exact mechanism is not well understood, metoclopramide-induced increase in gastric emptying may interfere with gastrointestinal degradation of cyclosporine. Serum cyclosporine concentrations and risk of toxicity may be increased.

MANAGEMENT: Cyclosporine levels and renal function, including serum creatinine, should be carefully monitored, during concurrent therapy. Cyclosporine dosage should be adjusted as needed. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, or headache.
