Professional:MONITOR: A case report has suggested that the addition or discontinuation of fluoxetine may increase or decrease cyclosporine levels, respectively. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of CYP450 3A4 hepatic microsomal enzymes.
MANAGEMENT: Until more information is available, cyclosporine levels and renal function, including serum creatinine, should be carefully monitored. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, or headache.
