Danazol and Equetro

Using carBAMazepine together with danazol may increase the effects of carBAMazepine. Contact your doctor if you experience shallow breathing, fast heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, urinating less or not at all, muscle twitches, restlessness, tremors, slurred speech, staggering walk, and feeling light-headed or fainting. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: Danazol may increase carbamazepine levels by inhibiting the CYP450 3A4 hepatic metabolism of carbamazepine. Carbamazepine toxicity is possible.

MANAGEMENT: If these drugs must be used together, close observation for clinical and laboratory evidence of carbamazepine toxicity is recommended. Patients should be advised to report possible signs of carbamazepine toxicity (nausea, visual disturbances, dizziness, or ataxia). Dose adjustments may be required.
