Talk to your doctor before using deferasirox together with aluminum hydroxide. Products that contain aluminum may interfere with the absorption of deferasirox and reduce its effectiveness. If possible, you should avoid taking aluminum hydroxide or other aluminum-containing products while your are being treated with deferasirox. Your doctor may be able to suggest safer alternatives to aluminum hydroxide that do not interact with deferasirox. Otherwise, you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your condition worsens. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

GENERALLY AVOID: Although deferasirox has a lower affinity for aluminum than for iron, it can theoretically bind aluminum in the gastrointestinal tract.

MANAGEMENT: Deferasirox should not be taken with aluminum-containing preparations.
