Using delavirdine together with sodium bicarbonate may decrease the effects of delavirdine. Delavirdine and sodium bicarbonate should be administered at least one hour apart. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Aluminum and magnesium containing antacids have been reported to decrease the bioavailability of delavirdine by an average of 41%. The mechanism may be related to decreased absorption of delavirdine. Other antacids may also interact.

MANAGEMENT: Delavirdine administration should be separated by at least 1 hour from one of these preparations.
