Using delavirdine together with aluminum hydroxide may decrease the effects of delavirdine. Delavirdine and aluminum hydroxide should be administered at least one hour apart. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Aluminum and magnesium containing antacids have been reported to decrease the bioavailability of delavirdine by an average of 41%. The mechanism may be related to decreased absorption of delavirdine. Other antacids may also interact.

MANAGEMENT: Delavirdine administration should be separated by at least 1 hour from one of these preparations.
