Consumer:

Divalproex sodium may increase the blood levels of lesinurad. This may increase side effects such as kidney function impairment and kidney stones. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: Epoxide hydrolase inhibitors such as valproic acid may interfere with the metabolism of lesinurad. The interaction has not been evaluated in pharmacokinetic studies. According to the manufacturer, microsomal epoxide hydrolase in the liver is thought to be involved in the metabolism of an oxide metabolite of lesinurad.. In addition, valproic acid is a competitive inhibitor of CYP450 2C9, the isoenzyme primarily responsible for the metabolism of lesinurad.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of lesinurad with epoxide hydrolase inhibitors should generally be avoided.
