Depo-SubQ Provera 104 is a form of progesterone, a female hormone that prevents ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). Depo-SubQ Provera 104 also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

Depo-SubQ Provera 104 is used as contraception to prevent pregnancy. It is also used to reduce pain caused by endometriosis.

Management of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children ≥2 years of age.

Has been reported to be effective in the management of ankylosing spondylitis (late stages did not respond as well as early stages); has also been used with some success in the treatment of adhesive capsulitis shoulder (frozen shoulder), radiohumeral bursitis (tennis elbow), and local trauma (e.g., recent sprains).
