DexPak and Epitol
Determining the interaction of DexPak and Epitol and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:CarBAMazepine may reduce the blood levels of dexamethasone, which may make the medication less effective in treating your condition. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Carbamazepine may decrease the plasma concentrations and systemic effects of both endogenous and exogenous corticosteroids. The mechanism is accelerated corticosteroid metabolism due to induction of the CYP450 3A4 enzymatic pathway by carbamazepine.
MANAGEMENT: Patients treated concomitantly with carbamazepine may require higher dosages of corticosteroids or adrenocorticotropic agents. Pharmacologic response to these agents should be monitored more closely whenever carbamazepine is added to or withdrawn from therapy in patients stabilized on their existing corticosteroid or adrenocorticotropic regimen, and the dosage(s) adjusted as necessary.
