DexPak 13 DayTaperpak and Dolutegravir Sodium and Rilpivirine Hydrochloride
Determining the interaction of DexPak 13 DayTaperpak and Dolutegravir Sodium and Rilpivirine Hydrochloride and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using rilpivirine together with dexamethasone is not recommended. Combining these medications may significantly reduce the blood levels of rilpivirine, which may make it less effective in treating HIV infection. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:CONTRAINDICATED: Coadministration with potent inducers of CYP450 3A4 may significantly decrease the plasma concentrations of rilpivirine, which is primarily metabolized by the isoenzyme. In 16 study subjects given rilpivirine (150 mg once daily) with the potent CYP450 3A4 inducer rifampin (600 mg once daily), mean rilpivirine peak plasma concentration (Cmax), systemic exposure (AUC) and trough plasma concentration (Cmin) were reduced by 69%, 80% and 89%, respectively. The pharmacokinetics of rifampin and its metabolite, 25-desacetylrifampin, were not significantly altered.
MANAGEMENT: Given the risk of reduced viral susceptibility and resistance development associated with subtherapeutic antiretroviral drug levels, concomitant use of rilpivirine with potent CYP450 3A4 inducers is considered contraindicated.
