Consumer:

Using guanFACINE and acetaZOLAMIDE together can have increased effects on your blood pressure. The blood pressure lowering effects of this combination may be additive. You may be more likely to experience side effects such as dizziness, weakness, headache, flushing, fainting, and irregular heartbeat. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring of your blood pressure to safely use both medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how these medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Use of guanfacine in combination with antihypertensive agents may result in additive pharmacodynamic effects such as hypotension and syncope.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised during coadministration of these agents. Dosage adjustments may be required and hemodynamic responses should be monitored during concomitant therapy. Patients should be advised to avoid rising abruptly from a sitting or recumbent position and to notify their doctor if they experience dizziness, lightheadedness, syncope, orthostasis, or tachycardia. Patients should also avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until they know how the medications affect them.
