Diazepam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with anxiety.

Diazepam is used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms.

Diazepam is sometimes used with other medications to treat seizures.

Entereg (alvimopan) reduces certain side effects of narcotic medicines that are often used to prevent pain caused by surgery.
