Consumer:

Using cycloSPORINE together with diclofenac can increase the blood levels or add to the side effects of diclofenac. Call the doctor if you have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, shallow breathing, fainting, or coma. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSE: The concomitant administration of cyclosporine and diclofenac may double the blood levels of diclofenac. In addition, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may potentiate the nephrotoxic effects of cyclosporine, especially if dehydration is present. The exact mechanism is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: Diclofenac doses in the low end of the therapeutic range are recommended during concomitant therapy. Renal function should be closely monitored in patients receiving cyclosporine and NSAIDs.
