Consumer:Before taking liothyronine, tell your doctor if you also use digoxin. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. This combination may cause a decrease in digoxin levels. The dosage of digoxin may need to be increased. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor first.
Professional:MONITOR: The clearance of or sensitivity to digitalis glycosides may be increased in previously hypothyroid patients when a euthyroid state is achieved after the addition of thyroid hormones.
MANAGEMENT: Monitor the patient closely for altered efficacy and safety while achieving a euthyroid state or when thyroid hormones are added, discontinued, or dosing changes are made. Digitalis dose increases may be required.
